Equipment
- Gimbap Rolling Mat (Baemut)
- Frying Pan & Square Egg Pan
- Cutting Board & Knife
- Mixing Bowls
- Spatula or cooking chopsticks
Ingredients
- —Main Ingredients:—
- 3 sheets roasted gimbap seaweed gim
- 350 g freshly cooked rice sotbap or warm rice
- 3 leaves romaine lettuce
- 2 square fish cakes sakat-eomuk
- 2 eggs
- 100 g carrot
- 1 cucumber
- 3 imitation crab sticks matsal
- —Sub Ingredients:—
- Rice Seasoning: 1 tbsp sesame oil 1 tbsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp vinegar, a pinch of salt
- Spicy Fish Cake Seasoning: 1 tbsp spicy chili powder cheongyang gochutgaru, 1 tbsp brewed soy sauce (yangjo ganjang), 1 tbsp oligodang (corn syrup)
- Other Seasonings: Salt grapeseed oil, a pinch of pepper (for eggs)
Instructions
- Step 1: Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly and drain excess water. Slice the cucumber thinly into strips, toss with 1 tsp of salt, let it marinate, and squeeze out all excess moisture tightly.

- Step 2: Julienne the carrots, lightly season with a pinch of salt, and sauté in a pan.

- Step 3: Beat the eggs in a bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper, cook into a thin sheet in a square pan, and cut them into fine thin strips (egg ribbons).

- Step 4: Julienne the fish cakes thinly, sauté in a pan, add the spicy fish cake seasoning, and stir-fry a little longer until well coated.

- Step 5: Lightly sauté the imitation crab sticks in a pan.

- Step 6: Spread the seasoned rice thinly onto a sheet of roasted seaweed, lay 1 leaf of romaine lettuce on top, place all the prepared fillings neatly in the center, and roll it up firmly.Pro Tip: Spread the rice evenly, but leave about 1 to 2 cm of space empty at the top edge. This prevents the filling from spilling out and helps the gimbap seal securely.

- Step 7: Cut the gimbap into bite-sized pieces, arrange neatly on a plate, and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
